Courtesy Scholars
Overview
One of the popular benefits available to Emory faculty and staff is the Courtesy Scholarship Program for employees and their children, spouses and same sex domestic partners. Depending on the employee’s years of service, the program covers 50%-100% of tuition for their children’s undergraduate education.
Employees, spouses and same sex domestic partners* can receive up to 5 credit hours per semester.
Academic advising for employees is available through the Office for Undergraduate Education. To schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor, please call (404) 727-6069.
*Employees’ children, spouses and SSDP's are eligible for undergraduate benefit only.
Admission Guidelines
Employee or Spouse/Same-Sex Domestic Partner of an Employee
- If you are a Student in Special Standing, determine which school you should apply to.
- If you have an undergraduate degree, you must apply to the appropriate graduate school. If you have an undergraduate degree, but wish to take undergraduate courses, you must apply to the Graduate School of Arts and Science.
- If you do not have an undergraduate degree, you must apply to Emory College or Oxford College.
- Adhere to the admission application deadlines for the school that you are applying to. Admission applications will not be accepted after the deadline has passed.
- Supporting materials (i.e., application fee, high school diploma, or official college transcript) must be received as soon after the deadline as possible for timely processing of your application.
Dependent of Employee
- A dependent may apply as a full time freshman applicant.
- A dependent may apply as a full time transfer applicant.
- A dependent may apply as a transient applicant. Transient status is reserved for students who are enrolled as degree-seeking students at another institution (not Emory) and who wish to take a semester or year of full-time courses at Emory.
- Adhere to all deadlines set forth by the admission office of the school to which applicant is applying.
- Admission decisions will be mailed out according to the schedule as outlined by the admission office.
Continuing Students in Special Standing
- If you are a continuing student and have had a lapse in your enrollment, you must notify the school in which you were enrolled thirty days prior to the start of the next term you wish to attend. This allows that school to reactivate your application in the system and allows you to register in a timely fashion. If you fail to do this and your application status is inactive, you will not be allowed to register and therefore, you will be unable to take classes for that semester. No exceptions will be made to this policy.
- If you have taken three or more courses in Special Standing status and wish to apply as a degree-seeking student, you must contact that school and adhere to the requirements for that school.
