This preliminary schedule of events provides a glimpse of Orientation week. The schedule will change somewhat over the course of the summer. Please check back frequently for updated information. Students and parents will receive updated information when they arrive on campus.

Residence Hall Check-In
First, check in at the lobby of your residence hall. After checking in, proceed to the Woodruff P.E. Center for Orientation Check-In.

Orientation Check-In Breakfast and Information Fair
Woodruff P.E. Center
All students must check in to receive an important orientation packet. They will have the opportunity to pay any remaining bills or fees at this time. Representatives from Emory College, as well as Campus Life offices, will be available to answer questions and distribute information about academic and social opportunities available to Emory students.
Noon – 4:00 p.m.
Various Campus Tours will be available throughout the afternoon.

- "Twice upon a Time: the Founding and Re-Founding of Emory": Lecture, Slide Presentation, and Walking Tour

President’s Address to New Families

President James Wagner, along with Dr. John Ford, Senior Vice President for Campus Life, and the Dean of Emory College, Robert A. Paul, will welcome parents to Emory.

President’s Coca-Cola Toast
Quadrangle
President James Wagner, along with the president of the Emory Alumni Association, will offer a toast to new students and their families. Coca-Cola beverages will be served.

Late Night at the WoodPEC
Woodruff Physical Education Center
Students will join the Orientation staff for free food, inflatables, door prizes, and interactive games. Stop by and scale the rock-climbing walls, dance, play basketball and table tennis, and enjoy other activities. Students should wear athletic shoes. Sponsored by the Physical Education Center, Recreation Services, and the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement.

Academic Opportunities @ Emory
Faculty members, administrators, and students lead discussions about academic options, programs, and majors at Emory. Examples include Study Abroad, Business School information, Pre-Health career information, Pre-Law career information, and details about Emory music ensembles. Detailed descriptions of these sessions will be available when students arrive.

Religious Life will host welcome receptions this evening. Specific times and locations will be included in your Orientation packets.

Transfer Student Academic Session
Dobbs University Center, Winship Ballroom
Required for all transfer students. Transfer students will receive an introduction to academic requirements and policies. Students should bring their evaluations of credit from the Office of Admission. Students who have not yet had phone appointments with academic advisers will have an opportunity to meet privately with advisers.

Students will join their Orientation Leaders and their fellow classmates for an entertaining hour of comedy and hypnotism. A favorite each year. Sponsored by the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement.

Required for all transfer students. Students should bring their evaluations of credit from the Office of Admission. Students will meet with faculty advisers in their areas of academic interest and have the opportunity to discuss majors and academic requirements. Campus Life will provide a buffet lunch.

Transfer students will dine with various professors and administrators.

Transfer Student Faculty Advising Sessions
Various Locations
Required for all transfer students. Students who have indicated interest in particular departments and programs will meet with faculty advisers in those programs to receive major/minor advising. Other departments and programs will offer advising during the afternoon Academic Department Advising Session in the Cox Hall Ballrooms (see below). Students should bring their evaluations of credit from the Office of Admission.

Optional Health Education (PE 101) Exemption Examination
White Hall 208
For transfer students who have not received an exemption for PE 101. The P.E. department will offer this exam for new students who feel their background is sufficient to warrant exemptions from the PE 101 requirement. Students who wish to take this exam should select a time that does not conflict with other scheduled activities. The proctors will ask late arrivals to report at a later exam time. The last exam will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Transfer Student Technology Training

Required for all transfer students. Transfer students will receive training on O.P.U.S., LearnLink, and Blackboard by Emory computing experts.

Academic Department Advising Session
Cox Hall Ballrooms
Transfer students can visit representatives from academic departments and programs for major, minor, and other supplemental advising. Students will be able to make additional changes to their schedules later this afternoon.

Resources and Co-Curricular Opportunities @ Emory

Faculty, administrators, and students lead discussions and answer questions about the various co-curricular activities and support services available to Emory students.

Transfer Student Registration Assistance

Academic advisers from the Office for Undergraduate Education, as well as Orientation Leaders, will be available to assist transfer students with any course schedule changes they need to make or to help answer any academic questions they may have.

Quadrangle
Join other students and your Orientation Leaders in the largest Capture the Flag game ever seen at Emory!! The first 500 participants will get a free Emory t-shirt and food for playing, and they'll have a great time getting to know the campus and other new Emory students!
