Author Biographies Caroline Coombs Caroline is a senior biology and spanish double major at Emory University. She grew up in Texas and will be returning there next year to attend medical school at the University of Texas in Galveston. She is interested in pursuing a career internal medicine or Ob/Gyn. She enjoys travelling, cooking, and workng on ceramics projects.   Sasan Mirfakhraee Sason was born in Chicago, Illinois--the city to which his parents moved from their native Tehran, Iran. Within the year, his family left for Shreveport, Louisiana, where they have spent the last 20 years. He developed an appreciation for Louisiana's natural setting at an early age, and many of his finest memories include time spent with his parents and sister, Sarah, in the many parks and waterways in the state, including the pristine Red River. Currently, he is a junior and Economics major at Emory University and aspires to a career in medicine.   Emily Osinoff Emily Osinoff is a senior at Emory University majoring in Resident Advising, Writing Center tutoring, and HV editorship. Extracurricular activities include completing a B.S. degree in Anthropology and writing an honors thesis on the incorporation of biomedical and traditional health systems in South Africa.   Kathy Parker Ph.D. Kathy Parker is an associate professor in theNell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. She earned her Masters of Nursing at Emory University and her Ph.D. at Georgia State University. Her teaching areas include nephrology, neurology and sleep. Her research focuses on sleep in patients with chronic illness and sleep disorders.   Czerne Reid A science writer, singer, and chemist, Czerne is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry. Her research focuses primarily on public health issues relating to environmental pollution. She is currently assessing the personal exposure of sensitive populations in the Atlanta area to selected air pollutants. She looks forward to life after Emory as a science writer and famous singer. She recently completed her first solo recording project entitled, 'Birdsong'.
