For each course proposed as fulfilling an area of the General Educational Requirements submit the following items electronically to EPC-Submissions@listserv.emory.edu by the appropriate submission deadline. Please do not submit paper proposals to White Hall 300. Call 404-727-4074 if you have questions about the submission process.

A proposal to the Educational Policy Committee requires these four elements:

1. Educational Policy Committee Cover Sheet (PDF): This form has been enabled to allow you save a copy of the completed form to your local drive.

2. Syllabus: please include one or more syllabi for the proposed course with sufficient detail to allow the members of the Educational Policy Committee (EPC) to assess the course against the requirements of the area of the GER it is proposed as fulfilling.

3. Statement of Support: All proposals submitted to the EPC must include a statement of support by either the Chair of the department or the Director of the program, or by the Director of Undergraduate Studies.

4. Staffing: Attach a separate sheet that details how the department/program is able to staff the course. If a professor does not have a tenure track position in the proposing department or program, the proposal must be accompanied by a memorandum, from the program/department in which the faculty has tenure, that indicates a commitment to assign that faculty member to staff the course. (GER courses must be offered at least once every two years.) If multiple professors will teach a course, the memo should also indicate a commitment on the part of the department to assure that in each variant offered the course will meet the rules and guidelines for the area of the GER.
