Semester Details: The United States is a federal system in which national power is built up from local, state, and regional bases of support. Each party has developed important regional strongholds. To better understand national politics, this writing seminar examines the party battles in the nation's principal geographical areas: the Northeast, Pacific Coast, Midwest, Mountains/Plains, and South.
