Semester Details:

Stem cell research, nuclear power, cloning, genetically modified food -- these are examples of technological and scientific developments that not everybody is entirely happy about.  In this seminar, we will discuss controversial scientific developments that not everybody is entirely happy about.  In this seminar, we will discuss controversial scientific and technological advances and examine the scientific facts behind the controversy, the arguments or proponents and opponents, and the way society deals with the problems.  Students will have the opportunity to form their own opinion on each subject and defend it in discussion with others and in writing.

NOTE:  This course does NOT count toward the biology majors.
