Catalog Description: Study of the political, economic, and social causes of underdevelopment in the third world. Focus on the relationships among developed and underdeveloped countries, and the inequalities within and between them.

Semester Details:

This course will explore the basic forces of political, economic, and social change that have shaped patterns of uneven social and economic development in the modern world. The material will also cover recent trends in world inequality, connecting them to contemporary processes of development in a global context.  Course participants are expected to attend all seminars as well as several data-lab sessions geared at learning digital techniques for hands-on analysis and representation of global development and inequality issues.
