Semester Details:

The United States is a continental sized nation.  We can deepen our understanding of why the United States is so hard to govern by identifying and discussing political developments in the different regions of the nation over the past fifty years.  This course analyzes conflicts in modern American politics by looking at the battles between liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, in five geographical regions of the United States: the Northeast, Midwest, Mountains/Plains, Pacific Coast, and South.  We shall spend about two weeks in the class on each of the regions.
