Prerequisites: Math 211 and either 221 or 321.

Catalog Description: Prerequisites: Mathematics 211, 221 or 321, and 250. Curves and surfaces in 3-space. The geometry of the Gauss map. Special surfaces. The intrinsic geometry of surfaces. Surfaces and computer graphics.

Semester Details:

The geometry of curves and surfaces in 3-dimensional space.  We will develop various notions of curvature, such as geodesic normal, Gaussian, and mean.   The emphasis of the course is divided between theoretical understanding, calculation, and visualization.
