Prerequisites: French 310.

Catalog Description: Every semester. Various aspects of contemporary French culture and society are studied through newspapers, film, and cultural documents. Discussions will be encouraged, and written skills perfected through short topical papers. Counts toward the minor only.

Semester Details:

Content: What is France today? What are its politics, history, language and population? To answer these questions, this course will present and analyze various aspects of contemporary French and Francophone culture and society based on newspapers articles, movies and literary texts.

Particulars:  This course will require extensive discussions on the part of the students.  Three papers (4 pages each) and a dossier de recherche.
