Prerequisites: ENVS 131, ENVS 132 or equivalent

Catalog Description: Prerequisites: Environmental Studies 131 and 132. This course will provide students the opportunity to experience and learn about the diverse ecosystems of the Southeast. Ecosystems to be discussed may include: Piedmont, coastal barrier islands, long-leafed pines, Okeefenokee, lakes and rivers, farmland, and cities.

Semester Details:

This course will provide students the opportunity to experience and learn about the diverse ecosytems of the southeast. During the course of the semester, the class will take several weekend field trips (1-2 days each) to reinforce lectures on the various ecosystems of the southeast. Ecosystems to be discussed may include: coastal barrier islands, coastal plain including long-leafed pine and swamps, Piedmont, Blue Ridge, Cumberland Plateau, and the immediate area around Emory. In addition to the textbook, other readings will be assigned throughout the semester. May be used to fulfill Field Course requirement for ENVS majors.
