Interdisciplinary approach to the interaction of humans with natural geological systems. Includes earth materials and processes, hazards associated with volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and floods, health impacts and origins of air and water pollution, development of energy and natural resources, and environmental regulation. Evaluation includes writing assignments, problem sets, group assignments, and three exams. May be used to fulfill the Intermediate Earth Science requirement for ENVS majors.
