Catalog Description: Limited to freshmen and introductory in nature, these seminars may feature discussion, readings, museum visits, and presentations. Previous offerings have included "Love, Death, and Image-Making" and "Animals in Ancient American Art."

Semester Details:

This seminar explores museology, i.e., the history, methodology, and practice of museums, using the Carlos Museum as an example.  Discussions will take place with the staff of the Museum as to the different departments, roles, and duties that make up a museum.  Students will each follow one object from when it enters the museum to when it is put on display.  As a group, we will design a small hypothetical exhibition using ancient American objects from the permanent collection.

The schedule of courses on O.P.U.S. is the official listing of courses, including days and times they meet and the General Education Requirements they satisfy. Students should use course descriptions as general guidelines. Course requirements, grading details, book lists, and syllabi are subject to change.
