Catalog Description: (Same as History 339.) Examines African American history from 1865 to the present. Emphasizes regional, gender, and class distinction within African American communities, and the ways in which industrial transformations shaped African American life, thought, and resistance.

Semester Details:  

Content: This course examines the collective experiences of African-descendant people from the latter part of the 19th century to the present in the United States.   It also on occasion looks at the experiences of African-descendant people in other parts of the African Diaspora.
