 Message from the Dean
The arts and sciences have been called the heart of the university for the simple reason that they provide the lifeblood of intellectual enrichment, curiosity, and passion.

A shared interest in the Emory-Tibet Partnership program brought together (from left to right) Emory College Dean Robert Paul, Albert Anderson '62C '77L and Tsondue Samphel, a Tibetan student who is majoring in physics.

Students at Emory College explore the areas most vital to all human endeavor, developing learning skills and attitudes that last a lifetime. Scholars continue a tradition of instructing and guiding young minds, while pursuing academic interests that make the world of ideas a place bursting with creativity and discovery.
While the College has benefited from its donors and made enormous gains over the last several decades, this is no time to rest on our laurels. We want to step up efforts to attract and retain the very best students and faculty; we also want to provide a highly creative environment for their work. For us to be successful, we need your involvement and contributions.
Elsewhere on these pages you will see our fundraising priorities, as well as a more detailed account of our goals and aspirations (see the public version of our strategic plan). We invite you to join us as we create a new future that will place Emory among the nation's finest research and teaching institutions.
Robert A. Paul
Dean of Emory College, Faculty of Arts and Sciences
