Scholarly Inquiry and Research at Emory (SIRE)

Research Partner Program - Academic Year

Application Process | Notes from the Field | Faculty Participant Information

The SIRE Research Partner Program allows students to join faculty researchers in all fields as student research assistant. Such faculty-student partnerships offer students the opportunity to be involved in a research team before they undertake their own independent research, and provide faculty with valuable research support for their own research. Students are selected at the end of their freshman or sophomore year and commit to working with their faculty mentor for a full academic year.

In addition to gaining practical research experience, Research Partners are required to attend workshops conducted by SIRE Graduate Fellows that cover research techniques and other skills. Students may also receive additional training in order to do specific tasks required in their actual research setting.

Research Partners work between 5-15 hours per week and receive an hourly wage for research hours, as well as time involved in meeting with the faculty researcher and workshops. Approved work-study students may receive work-study funds if they are accepted in the program.

Students can apply in the spring of their first or second year to participate in the Research Partnership Program during their second or third year at Emory.
