Grants are awarded to students in any field of the Arts and Sciences.
Grants cover costs for student research or creative projects. Costs can include the cost of books, travel for the purpose of doing research (for example, if you travel to a field research site or to a library, the grant will cover transportation costs and lodging), mailings, small equipment, or other research-related expenses. The maximum amount for a grant is $2,500 if the student is remaining in the U.S., although the application may be for a lesser amount. Students proposing projects involving international travel may apply for a supplemental grant (up to $1,500 in addition to the SIRE grant, for a total grant of $4,000) from the Institute for Comparative and International Study as part of this application. Additional information about other funding opportunities is also available from the Center for International Programs Abroad.
