Interdisciplinary Programs
Advanced Years
Students will have a basic preparation in all the sciences by the end of the first two years and will therefore be ready to specialize in a particular project. Students can choose a major of study with an interdisciplinary concentration or track of their choice. For example, it is possible to graduate as a biology major or a chemistry major with a specialization in drug discovery.
Some examples of interdisciplinary tracks are illustrated below with suggested courses. While the curriculum is science-intensive, it still remains true to the liberal arts traditions of Emory College as students are encouraged to choose courses in the social sciences and humanities that explore related aspects of their subject area.
Tracks & Concentrations
Through a careful selection of research projects, interdisciplinary introductory courses, relevant courses in the social sciences and humanities, upper-level courses and graduate-level courses, students can pursue a unique program of study while obtaining a major in an accepted discipline such as chemistry or physics. Students are expected to plan a program of study for their "track" or concentration jointly with their research advisors and Dean Ram.
