Interdisciplinary Science Program for Integrating Research into Education (INSPIRE)Overview | The INSPIRE Experience | Eligibility and Application | Year-by-Year Objectives | Advisors | Interdisciplinary Programs | Getting Involved in Undergraduate Research AdvisorsINSPIRE students have access to some of Emory’s leading researchers as advisors, including Dennis Liotta (Chemistry), David Lynn (Chemistry), Eric Weeks (Physics), Tracy Morkin (Chemistry), Jose Soria (Chemistry) and Darrell Stokes (Biology). Dean Preetha Ram, assistant dean for science, also serves in an advisory role and oversees the program. Once students join a specific research lab, research advisors from that lab will become an integral part of the advising infrastructure. Students meet with their faculty mentors regularly in classroom settings as well as in more informal settings. Dinners or lunches are held regularly so that everyone can gather to talk about issues both inside and out of the lab. In addition, graduate students from different disciplines serve as near-peer mentors, providing assistance and personal insights on navigating the undergraduate experience. |
