Research Symposiums

Research Symposium Application (PDF)

At the end of the grant period, students will present their research in a research symposium, and will write a report on their project. Symposia will be organized during Family Weekend in the fall, and during the Emory Scholars weekend during the spring. Students can present their research in the symposia in appropriate forms, which may include oral presentations, performances, or posters.

SIRE grant recipients attend regular SIRE meetings with other grant-receiving students and present their research in progress during those meetings. In addition, students provide project abstracts and reports, and present their research and creative projects during the SIRE Research Symposium near the end of their grant period. At the end of the grant period, all grant recipients will seek the approval of their faculty mentor to post their project reports on the Web, making these presentations widely available on campus.

Students who accept a SIRE grant agree to meet the obligations listed on the Benefits and Commitments page. Students who fail to complete these obligations will be required to refund the full cost of the grant.

Faculty mentors of SIRE Grant recipients may apply for up to $500 in additional research funds to offset research costs incurred while working with students.
