History 371: Japan to 1750
Special Fonts
- These pages also use Orient, a special font that I developed
to display correctly the romanized versions of Japanese and
Korean. In order to view these pages with the proper diacritical
marks:
- Please download and install the
Mac or
Windows 95 version of
Orient.
- The Mac verson is a self-extracting archive. To install the
Mac version, drag the font to the Fonts folder in your System
folder and restart your browser.
- The Windows version is in ZIP format. To install the
Windows version, drag the font to the Fonts folder in the
System folder.
- If you do not wish to download Orient, please examine the
character substitution table below. Note that the umlaut becomes
the Japanese macron and the circumflex becomes the Korean breve.
- If you are using Internet Explorer 3.0 (or later) or Netscape
4.0 (or later), the browser will automically use Orient font where
required. If you are using another browser please set the
preferred display font to Orient.
