Samson Agonistes,1788

The original composition of the drama is dated anywhere from the 1640's to the 1660's. In it Milton explores his longstanding anxieties over the relationship between the sexes by dramatizing the story of Samson and Delilah from Judges, chapters 13-16.

This copy is an eighteenth-century display of learning in which Milton's English has been translated into Latin and Greek.
