The Woodruff Library
In the Woodruff Library, we made acoustic, aesthetic, and technological improvements to four rooms. Two (874 and 974) are general use seminar-style classrooms. They received a miniature "smart" podium with VCR, DVD/laser disk player, and laptop connection, along with a mini-touch panel. In addition, the rooms received new lighting, carpet, acoustical tiles, white boards, and a drop ceiling.
The other two rooms (875 and 975) were converted into state-of-the-art spaces for the teaching of first- and second-year language classes. In these rooms, we converted our usual smart podium into a media wall to better suit the needs of language faculty. The wall features a rear-screen, touch sensitive smart board, a G4 computer, multi-standard VCR, DVD/laser disk player, and document camera. The language classrooms were designed with the help of a faculty committee and will be used this fall by faculty from most language departments. These rooms will be administered by the Emory College Language Center.
