Student Life

  • Students can choose from over 200 campus organizations to suit any interest, and an array of cultural opportunities.

  • Emory's Debate Team has won 3 national championships since 1995, has ranked in the top 20 since 1988.

  • Emory faculty have received the Pulitzer Prize, the National Humanities Medal, and the National Book Award.    
  • They have been honored by Guggenheim, Fulbright, NEH and Carnegie Fellowships, the Herty Award, the V.O. Key Award to name a few.
  • Emory is the #1 research university in Georgia based on external sponsored research with 20.1 million in funding.
  • Faculty participate in some 70 interdisciplinary research centers.

Academic Programs

  • The College’s 40 departments offer 66 majors, 17 joint concentrations, and 53 minors.
  • The Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology (NBB) program has grown to be one of the top majors for undergrads.
  • Biology and Chemistry Professor David Lynn has developed a series of freshmen seminars called ORDER (On Recent Discoveries by Emory Researchers) in which graduate students share their research with College students
  • The African American Studies and English Department are fast making Emory a top school for African-American Literature.
  • SIRE (Scholarly Inquiry and Research Experience) lets students in any field work in close relationship with faculty
  • Emory offers 79 study-abroad programs in 26 countries, including training in 16 languages.

New and Noteworthy

  • The new Math and Science Center has received their LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) award.
  • Current Emory faculty have collectively authored and edited over 750 books – over 50 in the last year alone.
  • Both men’s and women’s tennis are national champions – the women’s team (with 4 All-Americans) for the 4th consecutive year (no other Division III team has ever won 3 straight). Men’s soccer is ranked 9th nationally, and volleyball is ranked 5th. In 2005, women’s swimming won the national championship, Golf Digest ranked Emory’s golf
    program first in the nation for academics, and five other programs landed in the NCAA top 10.

Fund Raising

  • Scholarships: A gift designated to scholarships works to ensure that  all qualified students will be able to attend Emory regardless of financial circumstances.
  • Emory Fund For Excellence: a gift designated to the Emory Fund for Excellence provides the college financial ability to address the most compelling needs as they arise.
